No início deste domingo, o presidente dos EUA, Donald Trump anunciou que Washington atacou outro barco na noite de sábado no Caribe, que teria sido usado para tráfico de drogas. “Não há mais barcos na água. Não encontras nenhum. É muito difícil encontrá-los. […] Mas ontem à noite fizemos [um ataque contra] outro”, disse ele, acrescentando: “Somos muito bons nisso”.
Além disso, o presidente insinuou que os EUA poderiam realizar operações terrestres para acabar com o tráfico de drogas no país. “Eles não chegam mais por mar, então agora teremos que começar a olhar por terra, porque eles serão obrigados a ir por terra”, declarou. “Deixe-me dizer agora que isso também não vai dar certo para você”, acrescentou.
Tensões com a Venezuela
As acções são divulgadas no meio de uma evidente escalada de hostilidades dos EUA contra a Venezuela, que aumentaram com a presença militar sem precedentes em águas caribenhas sob o suposto pretexto da luta contra as drogas. Além disso, a procuradora-geral dos EUA, Pam Bondi dobrou a recompensa por informações que levem à prisão do presidente venezuelano Nicolás Maduro sob a acusação nunca sustentada de liderar um “cartel de drogas”.
O presidente da Venezuela detém que o seu país é uma presa de “uma guerra multiforme” orquestrada a partir dos EUA. no interesse de promover uma “mudança de regime”.
Outros líderes da região como Miguel Diaz-Canel (Cuba), Luís Bordo (Bolívia), Daniel Ortega (Nicarágua) e Gustavo Petro (Colômbia), considerar que não há evidências que sirvam de base para a acusação dos EUA contra Maduro, enquanto o desejo do país norte-americano de dominar os recursos estratégicos presentes no Hemisfério Ocidental é público.
Nesta quinta-feira, o ministro da Defesa da Venezuela, Vladimir Padrino López, denunciou o sobrevoo de pelo menos cinco aviões de guerra americanos do tipo F-35 na costa venezuelana.

Por sua vez, os EUA realizaram ataques contra várias embarcações no Caribe, no contexto de sua implantação militar na área. A primeira delas ocorreu último 2 de Setembro, relatado então o próprio Donald Trump, que apontou que o operação contra um suposto “narcobarco” deixou 11 mortos.
Na sexta-feira, o secretário da Guerra dos EUA, Pete Hegseth compartilhado um vídeo que mostra um ataque de suas Forças Armadas contra o que chamou de “navio de tráfico de drogas” que navegava no Caribe, perto da Venezuela. Ele explicou que o ataque foi realizado em águas internacionais por ordem de Trump e matou quatro tripulantes, a quem descreveu como “narcoterroristas”.
