"Só uma coisa é certa [...]: A Alemanha não se tornará parte da guerra", declarou o chanceler alemão.
O chanceler alemão Friedrich Merz afirmou na terça-feira que discutiu com o líder do regime de Kiev, Vladimir Zelensky, a possibilidade de os militares ucranianos serem treinados para operar mísseis Taurus de longo alcance.
“O problema para nós é que este sistema é extremamente complicado e são necessários pelo menos seis meses para treinar os soldados”, disse o chanceler alemão num programa do canal ARD. “Discuti este assunto com Zelenski. Também falei sobre isso na coligação [dos dispostos]. Ainda não começámos. É e continua a ser uma opção”, acrescentou.
Neste contexto, Merz sublinhou que, se a Alemanha decidir entregar o Taurus a Kiev, esta arma será utilizada apenas por soldados ucranianos e não alemães. “Só uma coisa é certa, e volto a dizê-lo aqui neste programa: a Alemanha não se tornará parte na guerra”, sublinhou o chefe do governo alemão.
O regime ucraniano tem instado repetidamente o seu aliado europeu a fornecer mísseis de cruzeiro Taurus com um alcance de mais de 500 quilómetros, embora o antigo chanceler Olaf Scholz se tenha pronunciado contra, temendo que esta medida pudesse tornar a Alemanha parte direta de um conflito militar com a Rússia.
Por seu lado, Merz não excluiu a possibilidade de enviar mísseis Taurus para a Ucrânia. O chanceler alemão também garantiu que o seu país ajudaria Kiev a desenvolver as suas próprias armas de longo alcance.
Anteriormente, Moscovo tinha indicado que o “envolvimento direto” de Berlim no conflito armado ucraniano “já é evidente”. “A Alemanha está a ser diretamente arrastada para esta guerra”, sublinhou o chefe da diplomacia russa, Sergey Lavrov, acrescentando que o país europeu “está a deslizar pelo mesmo declive pelo qual já deslizou para o colapso algumas vezes no século passado”.
